About us
Who we are
The Yvette Gate Trust was founded by Yvette’s family and friends. It carries on the work of the Race Against Time Marrow Donor Campaign — because patients waiting for a donor are in a race against time, and the prize could be life itself.
Our aims
Raise awareness
Highlight bone marrow illnesses and stem cell transplants, and bust the myths that stop people signing up.
Grow the registers
Encourage people to give blood and join the stem cell registers — especially within minority ethnic communities, where the need is greatest.
Fundraise
Run events and support partner charities so that this work can carry on.
Our history
The campaign began in 2005 as the Yvette Gate Bone Marrow Campaign, set up while Yvette was searching for a donor. It later became Race Against Time, running registration drives in Bristol and sharing the stories of donors and patients.
Yvette died in 2010 without finding her match. The need is as great as ever, and the Trust exists so that other families have a better chance than she did.
The Trust is funded entirely by voluntary support. We’re grateful to every person and business who has given their time and money along the way.
